most of the places that rent them rent the same thing.

why not have some cleaning service come in and clean it for you?

Yeah, it's like $20 for the rug doctor pretty much everywhere. Supermarkets, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. It's worth it to splurge on the wide track model for $25.

I'd suggest steam cleaning twice...Once with just water to get the bulk out and once with the cleaner solution in there. If you've never done it you'll be surprised at how much filth comes out of your carpets. The water was brownish/black after I cleaned mine and they are only a year old.

have a professional do it.

truck mounted unit

you can get it done for 50-60 bucks if you shop around.

those rental things just soak your floor, leading to mildew, and pulling deeper stains up.

not to mention your time+its gross+30 for the machine+398740370 for that shampoo crap=
hire somebody

will ^^ they move our furniture? or do we have too
we (me, roommate, and bf) were all gonna do it this weekend.
that way we can move furniture around the house and get all the carpet done.

we have a pretty decent sized house and the stains are pet stains (my former roommates dog had "problems" (shit or throw up a few times a week) and she never cleaned them up very well... ) we bought a small carpet steamer and me and the other roommate would try to get the stains up.. she thought a paper towel was enough.. although i ended up cleaning up 90% of the dogs messes due to being the first one home and finding the mess.

so before our new roommate moves in we want the carpets cleaned. plus we're living here another year.

id you have used someone in raleigh and can remember the businesses name pass it on.

If you are gonna rent a Rug Doctor, don't buy the shampoo stuff that they sell. It's a total rip off. You should go to Advance and buy "Purple Power." It's some strong shit and will get ANYTHING out of your carpet. Plus, it's a degreaser...my husband uses it on his work uniforms (he's a machanic). Each time you fill up the cleaning solution reservoir, just put about a soda can worth of Purple Power in the Rug Doctor and fill it up the rest of the way with water. Saves you a shit ton of money and cleans your carpet better.

^It may sound sketch, but I've used this method to clean the carpets in two apartments that I was moving out of (and I got the deposit back in both of those places) and I've also cleaned the carpets in my current apartment multiple times using this stuff. It really does work.

the problem with that is that it will take the scotch guard out of the carpet causing it to thus stain easier.

if you go that route, you can buy the scotch guard to reapply to the carpet after you clean it.

my mom bought one of those bissel carpet cleaners a few years ago because we had similiar pet problems and it took all of the stains out not problem. and now she can clean the carpet to her hearts content.

some cleaning services will move furniture and then put it back, some won't . . . just call around and ask.

Most places will charge by room, but they'll put your furniture up in your kitchen or on blocks. It takes like 24 hours or so for the carpets to dry, so plan on your socks being a little damp for a day.
