I can tell you this: having ridden in the Triangle area off and on since somewhere around '93, I don't strongly feel the urge to get another bike and/or go riding around here anytime soon.

There are way too many complete fools driving around us, and way too many chances for folks on bikes to die.

I've seen my share of totalled bikes, and I have several friends that have pins in their legs now because some asshole in a car hit them.

My roommate rode his bike as primary transportation for YEARS. It's still sitting in the garage, waiting for me to get a set of carbs for it. He's in absolutely no hurry to get back on it...says it's way too much of a risk.

There are plenty of other things to live for besides another addiction (like adrenalin). Yeah, I'm on this bandwagon. And I like it that way.

That one down at the very end, with red/white helmet and red/black gear...unreal that a human body can be turned to mush like that.

Last week when we were going to Apple Chill in Chapel Hill, there was a fucking bike on fire on 15/501 and I-40. I dont know what happened but the fucking bike was incinerated and all that was left was teh frame/gas tank. it was pretty crazy but nobody was injured.

obligatory hitting the road at 50mph after taking a turn hard with sand on it i didnt see, with only a sleeveless shirt and open face helmet, sliding/rolling almost 100 feet, and coming up with only bad road rash, and the bike was ridable after a few hours on ebay and a few hours of working on it

[Edited on April 28, 2006 at 11:14 PM. Reason : forgot the back, you can see the stripes from doing barrel rolls]

lolz vlad and i almost got creamed last night. . well it as a pretty close call not crazy close though. the kid on the 1000rr im sure would have a better chance getting creamed than us just bc a car's going to rear end him one day or something.

i'm not trying to say that riding a bike is safe, but atleast half those accidents are from people being stupid...going to fast for conditions/traffic, following too close, not wearing a helmet, crossing the center line, taking curves too fast, etc. when you're on the street you gotta look out for #1 cause no one else is going to.

i know accidents can happen that you have no control over also. i was in one where i was rear-ended, but by being careful and wearing proper gear you can greatly reduce the risk of an accident and greatly improve your chances of survival and minimize your injuries.
