My dog pulled out the carpet fiber from a roughly 2 inch circle on the floor. Is there any way to just spot fix it or does the whole carpet have to be replaced? I was thinking of just using carpet samples and gluing them on the bare area.

incorrect.

first of all, is the rest of the carpet glued to the floor? More likely, it is tacked in at the edges. If so, you'll hvae to get carpet glue-strips and a heat iron to patch that hole - its gonna be a bitch.

either way, good luck matching the color - its gonna look like shit

you can replace just little sections, you will probably want to do a 8'' square or so. I believe they sell patch kits. Make sure you orient the strands the same, or it will always stick out.
