Brand name is not important, I just need a pair of 6.5" Marine grade audio speakers. Let me know what you have and an asking price for them. 4/29/2006 3:02:36 PM |

boaters world had some 2 ways for $40 brand new...
I personally replaced my boat speakers with generic replacement speakers from walmart... they survived all last season without any problems that I've noticed so far. 4/30/2006 2:09:29 AM |

I think as long as the speakers aren't paper coned, I wouldn't think you'd have much problems. Can't go wrong with some cheap $20 pioneer speakers. 4/30/2006 2:44:10 AM |

I ripped out my "marine" speakers on my boat and put in some nice, regular speakers. My marine speakers were the stock speakers and pieces of crap. Three years with the normal speakers and no problems. I am pretty sure that the only difference between most marine speakers and regular speakers is the price for having "marine" in front of the name. 4/30/2006 12:53:14 PM |

well, I would speculate, that marine speakers are going to have a moisture resistant Spider as well as a poly or water resistant cone...
regular poly speakers (which I use myself so don't get me wrong) have a cardboard based spider and will probably warp over extended periods of time... the stock 20 year old speakers in my boat still worked when I replaced them... the surround had just warn away from sun damage... 4/30/2006 3:54:21 PM |
