I personally think the article is poorly written. I believe its main point is don't blindly accept the current numbers that are out there, as they may not have much credibility to them. It's secondary point is "I need to find more studies to help validate these figures".

plenty of people have abortions. i don't think having an abortion is anywhere even in the same ballpark as rape. abortion is legal. i know multiple people who have had them. they're not proud of it or anything, but it's hasn't cast them out of anything.
