The market in the US looks like it's "ripe" to take on all these little crossover things like the honda fit and the toyota yaris (dodge caliber, ford edge, pontiac torrent, and the rest).

Some of them are as cheap as shit, and for their size I think most of them get decent mileage.

blame the europeans. their eco-consciousness is starting to infiltrate the u.s. you can also blame the celebrities and tree-huggers for making it seem that this is what america wants. for the most part, americans will pick from what's available, and many of them pick wrongly.

That whole argument about folks buying big cars/SUV's/trucks for safety holds true because...well, because there are so many big cars/SUV's/trucks on the road.

If everybody drove small cars then one wouldn't have to worry about the consequences of hitting the immovable mass known as the SUV. And I'd be willing to bet that an overwhelming number of accidents involve two or more vehicles colliding, usually because of driver error (namely, not paying fucking attention to what he or she is doing as they are sitting there in their mobile living room chatting on the phone or eating or doing their nails) or because somebody was intoxicated.
