So, just moved into a new house and have had directv come in and situate stuff (which still doesn't work). Anyway, I was trying to watch a dvd and there was no sound coming out of the tv except a fuzzy sound the louder i put it. Also, same thing with nintendo 64 and gamecube. And if I put an output speaker (Aiwa stereo system) it still doesn't work.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

have you made sure all the inputs and outputs are correct?

it's probably a wiring problem

well, I've wired everything like I did at my old place, but I'll try a different tv. I hope it's not my tv

yeah it's gotta be something with the inputs and outputs

if you aren't using surround sound and are just going from the dvd player/game console, make sure the colors match up.

what kind of cables are you using? component/composite/coaxial...?

yellow, white, and red for the dvd
a coaxial type box for the gamecube/nintendo 64... it splits up into those little slot things.

ok the dvd uses composite then

obviously make sure that the plugs are in the right color slots, but i doubt that's your problem. more likely, you may have plugged them into the TV Output rather than Input.

If your DVD player and TV have multiple composite inputs/outputs, make sure you have your cable plugged into the DVD Output and TV Input. Although, if you're getting video still and no audio (sounds like this is the case), that would kill this theory.

It's possible that there's something wrong with the TV audio, but I would think there's just a problem with the connection somewhere, or perhaps the setup of the TV.

how old is the TV? has it worked fine before (ie prior to moving)?

it's hard to speculate on the possible problems without actually seeing it, so hopefully some of that can be helpful to you anyway.

no, I did not set it up nor did I fix it, I just assumed that whomever set it up did exactly what I had done before.

I DON'T WANT to have to defend myself because...

...it was a stupid problem.

To be honest, I believe that technology has just become too advanced for us measley humans. We have created monsters, and they have now found ways to fool the naive and gullible in such a way that the peers of these victims make fun of them.
