not round a grade? My friend took ch 101 online and recieved a grade of 69.5 The prof put it down as a D+ and it is a C wall course. He sent him a message asking if it should/could be rounded to a 70 so he could recieve credit, but the instructor replied saying that in the syllabus it stated that if someone was 1.5 points shy of a grade cutoff and made lower than a 60 on their final exam would recieve the lower grade. what a jew

1. this is not me
2. just tryin to help a brotha out

Can teachers allow graduating seniors to not take an exam but make everyone else take the exam?

If that professor did exactly what it said in the syllabus that he/she would do, then I don't see what complaint your friend has, or what merits the "jew" comment.

ive seen profs grade finals early for students who are graduating, but never not have to take a final. but most professors are more lenient to students who are graduating which i'm fine with.

There's no rule that says any professor has to give a student a grade that wasn't earned. Sorry.

But it is ok to help athletes out by giving them review sheets and other types of help which other non athlete students cannot recieve (rocks for jocks), but not to help a student who actually does his/her own work?

^^^^^^^

Psykorage, I don't know what they do in the rocks class. In my class, a student is a student is a student. Doesn't matter if they're on the football team, the basketball team, the fencing team, the headstand team, the yak-shaving team, or no team.

and not in a classroom. Yes, I am taking ch 101 this semester and it is easy as hell. I dont know why he decided to take it online, but he did, and that shit is MUCH harder than anything i have done all semester.

That's the reason why your friend doesn't deserve the C. If you can't make a passing grade on the final, you don't deserve to pass the class.

As others have said, it depends on what's stated in the syllabus as to what they can officially do. I'm not sure what the specific circumstances are in this case ... but if the person has a good student / communicates with the instructor regularly ... there's a GOOD chance the grade will get bumped in a situation like that.
