belle and sebastian are amazing live...

i was really lucky for a time. The cousin to one of my best friends was their roadie. he did all their lighting at all their shows until just this year when, against B&S's will they were forced to go with "local talents" for the lighting. But nothing beats getting to see them for free at DC and Durham, the backstage, the tour bus, and drinks...VERY COOL PEOPLE!

Couldn't understand half the stuff those Scottish people were saying, but they were impressed by the chugging skills

ouch & merriweather pavilion - if that's where i went years ago to see Radiohead - heads up - get there very fucking early - their traffic co-ordination sux ass & we missed a lot of the show ( & this was like a sunday nite, so it had zero to do w/ d.c. traffic )

It was a really great show, despite the fucking Future Fratboys of America going batshit crazy for Ted Leo and kind of ruining it for everyone else. Luckily the teenage fanclub fled the scene after Leo since the other two bands weren't on fucking Lookout.

Ted Leo soundchecked with "The Spirit of Radio", which was hilarious. His sound was kind of muddy, though, which is to be expected for the opening act at a large venue like that. Not nearly as good as seeing him at Kings or Go!, but still fun. Broken Social scene killed, and god damn do I want to marry Amy Millan (or at least her voice). Belle and Sebastian was amazing, had an extra four violin players, and Stuart Murdoch almost got raped by a bunch of little girls when he jumped onto the fence next to the crowd. Seriuosly, it was a great show.
