so a friend of mine that lives near lake park, a guy tried to break into her house last night. while she was there. she screamed at him, her dog barked, he left, but still hung around outside for awhile(he was visibly high or something). she called 911, the cops took like an hour to get there, gave her attitude when they got there (she screamed at them because they took so long and she was scared out of her mind), and they guy was gone by the time they showed up. investigator came and got prints and shit, but would have been unnecessary had the cops responded in a timely manner.

shes gonna file complaints with the appropriate channels obviously, but i want to hear the cops that read TWW's thoughts and excuses, as well as other tdubbers experiences.

it is unacceptable to me that our RPD is waiting and willing to dispense NPO tix, speeding tix, etc, but here a chick's life was pretty much endangered and there wasnt an officer to be found for a fucking hour.

go.

uhm... duh why would a pig cop want to put himself at risk - you have to remember these guys are community-college failures. They'd much rather hand out NPO tickets than do any real work.

being a cop is like teaching IMO, if it is just a job to you, you should really pursue other options.

grape- same thing happened to us. while the response time was about 5 min, when the officers arrived they were extremely rude and began arguing with me and my roomate by telling us "we were making up the break in".

it was the most ridiculous situation i have ever been in.

when the CCBI got there, they told me that the RPD was extremely lazy in investigating cases like these and then proceeded to find point of entry of the suspect and a set of prints.

is this more of a '5 on your side' situation, or a 'call important people and get some heads rolling'?

im curious how common this sort of scenario is.

oh yeah, and when the investigator showed up, she was nice and friendly and comforting and shit, but im assuming the gender difference and sympathy/motherly thing accounts for some of that.

Haha, something like that happend at University Apartments last year.

It was early in the morning, I got up to get some breakfast around 6:30am. Then, I hear this loud screaching and screaming sound. Sounded like someone was getting murdered. So, I look out the window and I see my neighbor (a 40 yr. old lady) running out of her apartment half naked in a night gown. And she's running through the parking lot pulling her hair like a mad woman. I go outside to see what's wrong, but by that time she's already sprinted down the road in her slippers. I have no clue what was going on. I figured she was just crazy. So, I walk back in and enjoy my breakfast.

Around 7:30am some cops finally show up. That's about a whole hour later. They knock on my
door around 8:30am to interview me. I told them all I saw was the lady run around the parking lot.

Then they proceeded to tell me what happened. They said there was a drunk/high man that broke into the apartment through the back door that wasn't locked (All the backdoors are sliding glass doors, and people tend to forget to push the lock button). Then they proceeded to give me a description and went on their way.

Long story made short: RPD is SLOOOOOW early in the morning. Maybe they stop by the donut shop on the way to the crime scene.

out of the cops i know, one has a degree from ncsu, just didnt like the field he went into out of school, one did BLET @ wake tech, one was raleigh academy.

this all happened about 7pm yesterday, so no morning excuses.

this guy also tried to come in her sliding door. she had the door open, but screen shut.

There was recently a HUGE set of changes in the RPD. I don't know the exact details but several officers have put in transfers to other cities and such. My roommate works for the city and works on Cop cars. There's where this info came from. He said the cop wasn't "allowed" to talk about it.

Anyone have any more details on what happened?

that's why i was shocked. well, i guess i really didn't want them to show up so quick. it's disheartening to know that the stereotype was affirmed, atleast on that night.

RPD IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOW

Their response time sucks, and its not funny at all. esp in dangerous situations, or for that matter any situation.

Dude, someone who has the wrong house is not a criminal. I've done it before: gotten disoriented and walked into a random apartment, thinking it was my friend's place. That doesn't make me a criminal.

^^ My wife did that... she went down one apartment complex too far (since all buildings look pretty much the same here) ... she said she started to unlock the door, but her key didn't work. Then someone came to the door... Let's just say she walked away a little embarrassed.

But, I would be a widow right now if the resident decided to look through the peep hole and shoot my wife through the door with a 45 magnum or some buck shot. Thank god for neighbors who do not carry a 45 and a saw-off shotgun

We had a very large drunken man attempt to batter down our door at University Oaks a few years back. Response times from the police were pretty good, probably about 10 minutes. They arrived just as he gave up on the door and started tearing up a window.

Funny thing was, he thought he was trying to get into his own apartment (lived in another building).

You would probably get a bigger response with Five on your side. They love stories like that and RPD will just sweep it under the rug.

i got in a wreck last summer at 3am
hit run from some fucking, drunk wet back that plowed into me while sitting at a stop light

i was 1/4 mile from wake med and i had to call 911 twice to get a cop to come out to write the report.

my first call to 911 was around 3am when it happened and my next call was at 3:50
but i was less than a mile from the hospital and I KNOW THERE WERE COPS AT WAKE MED

talk about being pissed off / then when i gave them almost every number of teh plate and a full description of the driver and the car --- they didnt do shit and they didnt look into it

hell, next time i will handle it myself since RPD is not worth a shit

Hit me
Going going gone
Now I dialed 911 a long time ago
Don't you see how late they're reactin'
They only come and they come when they wanna
So get the morgue embalm the goner
They don't care 'cause they stay paid anyway
They teach ya like an ace they can't be betrayed
I know you stumble with no use people
If your life is on the line they you're dead today
Late comings with the late comin' stretcher
That's a body bag in disguise y'all betcha
I call 'em body snatchers quick they come to fetch ya?
With an autopsy ambulance just to dissect ya
They are the kings 'cause they swing amputation
Lose your arms, your legs to them it's compilation
I can prove it to you watch the rotation
It all adds up to a funky situation
So get up get, get get down
911 is a joke in yo town
Get up, get, get, get down
Late 911 wears the late crown
911 is a joke

Everyday they don't never come correct
You can ask my man right here with the broken neck
He's a witness to the job never bein' done
He would've been in full in 8 9-11
Was a joke 'cause they always jokin'
They the token to your life when it's croakin'
They need to be in a pawn shop on a
911 is a joke we don't want 'em
I call a cab 'cause a cab will come quicker
The doctors huddle up and call a flea flicker
The reason that I say that 'cause they
Flick you off like fleas
They be laughin' at ya while you're crawlin' on your knees
And to the strength so go the length
Thinkin' you are first when you really are tenth
You better wake up and smell the real flavor
Cause 911 is a fake life saver

So get up, get, get get down
911 is a joke in yo town
Get up, get, get, get down
Late 911 wears the late crown

Ow, ow 911 is a joke
