if you google for the TI-89 manual, it's pretty explicit in how to do it.

from what i remember, DSolve completely saved my ass on chukwu's exams.

something like DSolve(y''+y'+5*y=0,y,someinitialconditionformat)

I've googled it already several times, I'm not very good at sifting thru the endless garbage that pops up. Problem is the TI-89 does alot of things.

keep trying variations on dsolve(y''=0,y,x)

it complains "Error: Argument error"

I've used it before, and then I threw out my manual to reduce clutter, what a mistake.

Hey, thanks. The independent variable goes first,

deSolve(y''=0,t,y)

but I tried this before, problem was the memory had the t or y defined by something else I'd done before so it made deSolve unhappy.
