what kind of camping are you looking for? RV type camping with electric and water hook ups at the campsite, or have a designated site w/o power, or like go out in the woods and pitch a tent?

Jordan Lake has a little under a thousand designated sites.

$20 per night with power and water
$12 - $16 (not sure exactly how much) without power and water

Don't "rent" fishing equipment, but have programs where they teach kids to fish on certain weekends.

Kerr Lake was nice and pretty fun, but it's quite a ride from Raleigh.
