I've just started watching deadwood, and I'm almost done with season 1. I'm loving it so far, and I'll probably be done with season 2 within a week.

anyone else looking forward to the new eps coming out in about a month?

after watching all of seasons 1 and 2, I must say I'm a little disappointed. This series showed so much promise in the beginning, and I feel like it kind of devolved into a political grind as the series went on. Not that I didn't enjoy the show after the first 6 episodes, but I really liked Bill Hickok and the gunfights that took place in the first few episodes.

The 2nd half of the 2nd season is where I found some disappointments in where the storylines were going, but I am definitely really looking forward to the next season!!!

Just finished watching the 2nd season. And I enjoyed it a lot. You can only go shooting and killing people for so long or you will run out.

So if I get the gist of it correct. Al played up bullocks connection to montana in order to sweeten the deal and get adequate power in the dakota aquisition of the camp? There was never any actual threat of joining Montana.

I am also interested to see if hurst is going to be a steady character on the show next season.

yeah, I'm pretty sure there was never the issue of joining Montana, but he sure freaked Dakota the fuck out by mentioning it. It was probably his connection to Bullock more than anything that allowed him to pull some power away from Toliver.

^^^ hah, yeah Sopranos was starting to piss me off with that shit. Every week they'd take a clip from next week out of context of blow it out of proportion, total cocktease.

I have a feeling Deadwood will be different, they don't fuck around. For example, I don't see how Al getting pistol-whipped by the captain could result in any less than a shit storm.

^ I saw the part with EB saying that they should kill Bullock in the preview. Yeah, it sounds important when they have him saying that set to preview music, but then I realized that he says shit like that all the time.

some interesting news on deadwood

http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060605/en_tv_eo/19188

Quote :
"The cable net has reached an agreement with David Milch, the cuss-friendly western's creator and exec producer, to wrap up the drama next year with a pair of two-hour TV movies rather than a fourth season. "

"According to Variety, Milch took issue with the idea of a shortened fourth season as each episode of Deadwood takes place over the course of one day and wrapping up the goings-on at the doomed encampment in, per the show's time, just six days, would not do the show, or its fans, justice."

from TFA.

Huh? If I'm not mistaken, there have been several episodes over multiple days (Udder's trip back to Cheyenne and Bullock on the Indian's trail, etc).

so i just saw deadwood for the first time last nite (the new episode). im pretty confused about who does what and whats going on (other then the elections), but im sure that will all come out as i watch it more.

ill be damned if they dont say "fuck" every other word in that show. its almost a little distracting...like the writers tried to see how many times they could say it.

It can be tough to keep track of to begin with. The dialogue was the largest hurdle for me to overcome, but once you get used to it it really shines IMO. best part of the show is the verbal interaction.

if you get a hold of the special features disk of the first season they talk about the cursing and explain why they put it in there.

and if you started with episode one of season 3 youre doing yourself a huge disservice.

now that was a great episode, just what I've been waiting for. a perfect blend of action and politics.

so, guesses as to how Al is going to strike back against Hurst?

Seeing as how Hearst went on to be successful until death, while Al lost everything in real life, I'm guessing that Al won't be too successful at striking back.

Was it just me, or was this not the best episode of Deadwood ever?

And next week looks like it might be better. Great stuff.

she seemed like the most 2 dimensional character on the show.

or is it one dimensional? either way, one less dimension than everyone else.
