Is it only calculated from ECE courses? What about courses like CSC 116, 216, 226, 316? 5/9/2006 10:49:11 AM |

i'm fairly certain the only classes included in your major gpa are those listed with an 'M' beside the course name on your degree audit 5/9/2006 10:59:11 AM |

Ok, I thought so. But those hours didn't add up to the MGPA hours on my Academic Summary, so I wasn't sure. 5/9/2006 11:01:49 AM |

CPE includes CSC courses.
ECE does not. 5/9/2006 4:51:30 PM |

Either way, it looks like I'm graduating. If only they'd post the actual 406 grade to TRACS and not just wolfware... 5/9/2006 4:58:46 PM |

Actually, I just looked and the CSC classes are not listed under major.
Which is curious, my advisor stated that they were part of the "major" requirement for ECE. 5/9/2006 5:00:32 PM |

Yeah, I'm trying to get my advisor to confirm that I will, in fact, graduate with the grades I have now.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Townshend is out of town until the end of the week, and I haven't gotten word again from Dr. Brickley since I told him my last grade. 5/9/2006 5:16:56 PM |

You and I maybe in the same boat.
Ms. Townsend always informed me that CSC counted towards the CPE major totals.
Maybe Wolfee can confirm? 5/9/2006 5:30:33 PM |

She told me last December that I needed 8 B hours in ECE to graduate. I got 9 B hours in ECE (no CSC or anything like that) this semester. So I should be graduating. I just want confirmation because the grade isn't in TRACS yet, the major GPA is not updated, and there is always a possibility that the number she quoted me was wrong. 5/9/2006 5:32:19 PM |
SandSanta All American 22435 Posts user info edit post |
Well if you didn't take CSC classes then it makes sense since ECE obviously counts for your Major GPA. 5/9/2006 5:50:55 PM |

Right, I'm more just wanting confirmation about those previously quoted numbers. When you've come this far, you don't want to start celebrating too soon. 5/9/2006 7:12:37 PM |

Did you say you emailed her? Can you post the reply if so? 5/9/2006 7:51:25 PM |

I emailed her about whether I would graduate. She isn't around, so I emailed Dr. Brickley asking the same question. I did not specifically ask what courses to count in calculating major GPA. 5/9/2006 8:04:02 PM |

Ok, right now my major totals say 64 hours.
I add up all ECE classes (the one's marked with M), except for the ones for this semester. I come up three hours short. If I count CSC, I'm way over. If I count my current classes, but not CSC, I come up a little over.
So that's why I can't figure which classes to count. I sure hope it's not the technical elective.

Actually, nevermind. My major totals are updated up through the last class. 67 hours, with 3 remaining. 70 ECE hours in the degree audit. Ok, it makes sense, and it apparently is only ECE classes.
And I am going to graduate.
^If you mean this semester, then I'm sorry
If you mean over the past five years, I don't think that I did 5/9/2006 8:28:20 PM |

CSC classes count. 5/9/2006 8:45:41 PM |
Pi Master All American 18151 Posts user info edit post |
My academic totals don't seem to suggest that. It says I have 67 major hours, which is how many ECE hours I have grades for. It says I have the correct number of grade points for those 67 hours.
CSC classes don't seem to count on there.

if we have like ece492x classes listed as non-major classes, do we need to e-mail townsend or something. 5/9/2006 9:16:44 PM |

Maybe it's because you fulfilled all your degree requirements with other classes...?
Like, do you have all your ECE electives filled? Those classes listed down there definitely still count in major GPA, btw. 5/9/2006 9:24:33 PM |

well, im using them for ECE electives, but they are showing up as non-degree courses.
since we are in that transition period where we dont HAVE to take intermediates, bu the degree audit still appears that way
