ok im trying to fix a computer and im running into two problems.

1- one the computer started to boot extremely slowly, stopping at the "windows xp is starting" screen after i had tried to connect to a network computer, which i think is what caused it but i didnt map a network drive to it so i dont know how to fix it.
ive even disconnected the ethernet cable and it still seems to be stuck on the startup screen.

2- im trying to reinstall the .NET 2.0 because of corruption and the installation stops because it cant activate the installer. so i went through all the steps to unregister and reregister the installer and the it still doesnt work.

if anyone can help me fix either of these problems id be in much greatfull appreciation

Can you explain exactly what you were trying to do / what you did in problem #1?
Can you explain exactly what messages the installer is giving you in problem #2?

Kinda difficult to troubleshoot w/o more detail.

problem 1 came out of nowhere, the only thing i thought might have caused it was that i tried connect to other computers on a network but the server names were not correct, so i thought maybe its stalled trying to connect to computers on the network,

the second problem started after i deleted the registry and reinstalled them from the xp disk, a error message started popping up saying that .NET 1.4 is need to run a app, and when i try to install it an error message says "windows installer could not be accessed",
i went through the steps to register the installer, even tried to install a new installer but still no luck
