So, I am driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla, and I notice that the acceleration isn't very responsive at high speeds or when the car is at about 20 mph. Why is this?
Also, why does the car rev up so much when clearly it should have gone to a higher gear a long time ago? Is it because of the way automatics are designed, or there's something wrong in my driving technique?
My only other automatic experience was a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis which drove wonderfully. 5/11/2006 4:34:58 PM |

small, low torque i4 needs to rev to get going, especially in an auto. It can be minimized by driving differently. 5/11/2006 4:52:43 PM |

i highly reccomend getting a grand marquis/crown vic.... if you like how they drive they are good tough cars that though they will have some problems come up, are generally cheap to fix and easy to work on overall. And lots of room, not to mention the goodness of having RWD and a *gasp* FRAME. 5/11/2006 6:46:03 PM |

my parents, my brother, and my grandparents have grand marquis/crown victorias. they seem to be very good cars and I'm considering buying one when the car we have now knocks off. there is a lot to be said for a big, good-driving car with a lot of room and rwd. 5/11/2006 10:50:13 PM |

move the gear shifter to the 1 posistion and you will have better accel. at 20mph. These auto cars shift into high gear early to help gas mileage and produce lower revs. 5/12/2006 8:13:09 AM |
