Hey - so I've been using some super cheap Logitech speakers (that do not have a subwoofer) with my computer for mp3s and stuff here at my apartment, and wanted to upgrade, so I got the Bose Companion 2 speakers for $99, which are a similar setup, just 2 component speakers without sub, but at all ranges, they were more bassy, always hitting a lower range (well, a full range, highs included).

I took them back because I feel like any sort of bass travels too much in a close-apartment situation, such as the one that I'm in. I know from past experience that the volume can be super low, but with some bass, you can still hear music a floor away (or through walls).

So the question: do I have any other options, as far as crisp midrange and highs but no lows? Even with using an equalizer with the Bose setup and reducing the bass all the way, it still sounded bassy. Whats up? Thanks!

The problem is that it's Bose (no highs, no lows). I have a pair of Altec Lansings with a sub that I bought about 5 years ago for like $80 that have always served me pretty well, but I'm not super picky about sound.

i really like my boston acoustic speakers, its a 2.1 system, but the bass is just right, has a knob on the lil sub that you can adjust
