i've never worked at IBM.

I unfortunately do use Lotus software products.

Altho props to the sametime support team. They're actually pretty good.

But to explain my situation at the moment it goes like this.

Company A hosts a secure, internal web app for us. The network setup is:
our term servers -> switch -> vpn tunnel -> them -> webserver.

So makes sense right?

unfortunately, the ip addressing scheme they use for their private network is reserved out on the intarweb.

In fact, the ip address belongs to a router of a japanese ISP.

So traffic was hitting the switch, deciding that the intarnet was the better way to go, and sends the packets to the router where it dies.

So i call the dude up, he acknowledges that its retarded and that he was against doing it. Hes gonna set me up some nat and just be done with it.

Its nice when people just realize exactly whats going on and how to fix it.

hahah

I wouldn't join IBM as a full time anyway

contractor maybe...but not full time

I have seen so many people at IBM work on shitty projects with no growth prospects all their life.

i haven't had any problems here yet - but i agree that it's not a lifetime commitment - the new healthplan this year is hard to beat

he started last year in July...graduated in December, and I think they're trying to get him to be a regular full time employee instead of a supplemental.

I dunno man

what's the average salary there?

I am thinking anything less than 70k for a master's graduate is shabby
