An interview with Kary Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction. Anyone who will be in the medical or scientific community should read this shit. It's really interesting and funny, and the article is a good read.

A number of Nobel Laureates seem to have gone astray in their careers after winning the prize. Brian Josephson is one: http://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/~bdj10/ he seems to be into the paranormal, ESP, and other shit. Linus Pauling and Charles Townes are two others that come to mind too. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe its because being awarded the prize causes your ego to blow up so much it destroys whatever bullshit detector you once had. 5/19/2006 7:56:46 PM |
