When do they assign them?
Is there a way to check if you got one?

In the past, I seem to remember it falling in the first week or two of July. They don't give a horribly long turnaround on it - even if you're traveling/studying abroad, make sure you check your email at least once a week and take the info you'll need to complete the online form (registration card for your vehicle). My best friend was out of the country a few years ago when the email came and timeframe (it's like ten days) passed, and transportation told her she was simply out of luck in terms of getting a permit and should have figured out a way to check her email.

There's a difference between being a dick about books when the book exchange isn't working and being a dick to morons

see, my reasoning is
- academic summer just started
- "actual" summer hasn't begun (6/21)

so we're dealing with early summer or not-yet-summer, neither of which corresponds to mid/late summer.

If you read the Transportation site that's the info given. They don't know when they're going to do it because they're still trying to figure out the best way to assign and oversell the parking passes. You'll get an email saying you've been assigned a certain parking pass and you have until XXXXX date to pay for it before you forfeit your pass to someone else. That's as much info as you're going to get from anyone until they actually start sending out the emails.

So yes, while ambrosia1231 might have been a bit crass with a quick reply, the information given was a perfectly reasonable answer to the question.

For ambrosia, I'm glad that, though critical, you are still willing to be helpful or informative. That said, some people don't have a lot of time for the internet, others realize that the NCSU website is not always 100% accurate, and some just figure it might be easier to ask those with more experience in the situation. I've read a couple of your posts and you seem to occasionally be fairly crass in responding to others with questions that you assume everyone should have the answer to. While you may understand many of the nuances of NCSU, it may take others a little more time, or a question. People will be a lot friendlier to you if you take the time to be a bit more polite to them.

As for the actual topic, I think your questions have been answered, if you need any more help, feel free to ask.

I don't expect people to have the answers. I expect them to use the resources (incidentally, most of the time, they are the same ones I have access to, and if I have access to resources most students don't, I happily use them to answer questions) available to them to answer their own questions.

When I saw this thread, I had the page with the pertinent information open (I had just applied for a permit). It was the VERY first time I had ever looked at the page. There was nothing complicated about this issue.

And you're absolutely correct that people will be nicer to me if I'm polite to them. By and large, most of the time I'm bitchy to someone on TWW is because
- I know them IRL, and they don't perceive my posts the same way strangers do, be that because I'm referencing a running joke, jerking their chain, or whatever. Sometimes it's a poster I fucking abhor IRL, and there's absolutely no reason to be nice/polite/whatever.
- Someone couldn't be bothered to use Google/is asking for information that they would have to actively avoid in order to have to ask the question
- they're someone like BridgetSPK or esgargs.

I also don't care too much if someone is nice to me.

^No.

From http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/trans/parking/index.html:

Recommendation:

*Designate the greater west lot parking area as EM (currently "E")
*Designate the "fringe" areas of Centennial Campus as EC (currently "E")
*Redesignate entire MRC deck as B, C, DD, DC for consistency with the Partner's Way deck
*Absorb the current Centennial Campus Park and Ride Lot into the EC designation

So basically the "West Lot" will now be "EM" and the new "EC" designation will be for what is now the Park and Ride on Centennial and the E lots behind Toxicology and Partners II.

On the transportation website it says Dan Allen Deck is for commuter only

But on the registration form it says for Grad students only?

What's the deal?
