http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/5015536.stm

Quote :
"The Nigerian teenager is set to sign a three-year deal with the English Premiership champions.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been at the centre of a protracted tug-of-war between Chelsea and United.

But a source close to Obi's camp has told BBC Sport that Obi's future will be resolved when he signs a US$15m contract with Chelsea.

This follows months of tortuous negotiations between Chelsea and United over the future of one of the most talented players to emerge from Africa in recent years.

The Nigerian youngster then refused to move to Old Trafford and said he wanted to play for big-spending Chelsea instead.

Negotiations have rumbled on for months, but it is now believed that Chelsea have won the battle to sign the Nigerian international.

"

Obi signed for United back in April 2005 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo but within days, his agent claimed the contract was signed under duress and should be ruled null and void.

That's some crazy shit right there.

Chelsea is like the Detroit Red Wings of 'football'. They have the largest pocketbooks and hoard a lot of the good talent and then somehow end up losing near the end (at least in the last two years). But since I am only vicariously a 'football' fan through listening to the BBC a lot I have to say I am a Chelsea fan.

I bet his contract read like

DEAR SIR: I HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED WITH US 1788 MILLION DOLLARS TO GIVE TO YOUR LINEAGE. I AM CURRENTLY IN LONDON, UK BUT HAVE A CHILD IN CHILE AND NIGERIA AND NEED TO TRANSFER THE FUNDS TO YOU. PLEASE DO REPLY SO THESE FORTUNES CAN BECOME YOURS.

FWIW, Petr Cech wears #1.

I used to think that Chelski was trying to buy the best team in the world. I now believe that they've assembled a very good (if boring) team, and they're going to win the European Cup by buying up all the best players in the world and benching them so they can't play for United/Milan/Barca/etc.

^x10 add another forward to that formation.

AC Milan have accepted Andriy Shevchenko's transfer request but have warned Chelsea they must break the bank to land the Ukraine striker.

Oh boy, another interesting conundrum for Chelsea!

Crespo and Shevchenko back together might very well show Stamford Bridge some *gasp* attractive attacking play, but they'd have to sit Drogba, who's been there for years but isn't old enough to gleefully accept the Dennis Bergkamp role.

Drogba is a diving cunt. Don't know what the hell Mourinho is thinking by wanting to keep him.

So then he moves back to Bergkampland and sends Reyes and Walcott on their merry way to an open net. No worries.
