Has anyone else seen Children of Beslan, the HBO documentary? It's seriously one of the most depressing things I've ever watched. It's on right now again, as a matter of fact.

This Chechnyan terrorist group took over a school (so lots of kids) in Beslan, holding roughly 1200 (Russian officials said 354- that's disputed) people for three days with bombs. They didn't give them any water or food. On the third day, the bombs went off. Lots of people got killed.

Just hearing these kids discuss how serious they are now as a result of losing many friends and parents that day is tragic. These poor 7-year-olds say they just can't be happy anymore.

Ahhhh yes my husband was talking about it, about how there are some 8-yr old kids that survived and are really angry, such as a boy that puts pictures of the terrorists from newspapers on a punching bag and goes to town on it. A girl draws pictures expressing her anger (I think of the terrorists) and burns them. Poor kids.

I don't like kids but goddamn, these are so sad!

They interviewed one mother who resorted to drinking her son's urine to stay alive on the last day since the hostages were denied water. The kid then said to his mom, "Spare the last sip for me." Oh god so depressing.
