Why do that? Different era of baseball with different pitchers and such. Compare them the last 5 years in which they faced the same pitchers at the same time... oh, wait... you don't want to do that, do you?

Such blind faith. I can't believe how some of you Bonds-haters can look at Pujols and not have the slightest inkling of performance enhancing drugs. He is massive, and while you say he's been that way his whole career all that means is that there is a good chance he abused his whole career. and given that he is from the Dominican Republic, where the abuse is rampant, it wouldn't surprise me if he got an early start. Remember, human growth hormone is still not checked by MLB's testing policy and has the same positive effects with actually fewer side-effects (and others at a lessened degree).

What a sick fucking joke. Base-running and fielding much? Barry BOnds is the perfect baseball player. He epitomizes the term 5-tool player, much like his godfather, Willie Mays. Pujols is a stellar hitter, but drop this whole "greatest player ever" bullshit.

once again, there's a difference between declaring that something is against the rules and then setting down the conditions to enforce it...
you can't just say something is against the rules and then never check to see if anyone's doing it...
if you behave like that then there's no point to the rule, or to respecting the rule...
it's not that hard to understand that MLB dropped the ball here and set up the conditions for the rampant steroid abuse 5/31/2006 12:37:14 PM |

It takes someone who really loves the game to pull for a team regardless of their success.
Quote : | "Has led the majors how many years in a row in runs scored now?

So yeah base-running and fielding." |
Runs are not baserunning, they are a measure of team production. When you play for a team with a high offensive output you are going to have a lot of runs regardless of your baserunning ability. Bonds' BB/K ratio I throw into base-running too because its an OBP type thing but I guess its more production.
He plays first fucking base and is par for the course. Looked at his stats playing any of the other positions where you do more then receive a throw? RF is a stat that is more heavily influenced by your pitching staff than it is the actual fielding. Its not like he's Mark Grace or anything.
Quote : | "ahahahaha baserunning? The fucker started out a baserunner batting 1st in the order. Now he's a clean up hitter with massive body growth." |
He's fucking 42 years old! MOst people don't have knees that can hold up like that over an entire career. Its a fact of life not a fact of shitty performance.
Quote : | "NO FUCKING ATHLETE WILL EVER HAVE THAT KIND OF CURVE! ARE ALL OF YOU PEOPLE FUCKING MORONS? You do not, in old age, suddenly become stronger. That is not natural. Isn't it rather coincidental that his SBs are going down when his HRs are goin up? HMMMMM..." |
Actually, it does happen. It doesn't happen often because players with both skill-sets rarely exist in players and we are talking about one of the best ever, so of course not many are going to measure up in similar patterns. SB are naturally going ot go down over a career and a smart player will change his game to adapt what he is capable of... increasing strength is much easier than increasing speed. He only had one freak year for power... the rest is pretty much steady over a 13 year span and inline with slight progressive power hitting increase that you see in lots of players (just look through B-R.com at some of the greats).
Quote : | "ANYONE THAT IS GOOD TAKES STERIODS! " |
Turnabout is fair play.
Quote : | "I was merely showing the length of steroids running rampant and what bonds'* numbers did." |
What you also show is that Bonds hit the same number of homeruns per season the years before he supposedly started using steroids that he did in the years after.. heck he actually dropped in power numbers the two years after the "start date" (I only use quotes and such because the actual date is unknown, not that I don't think he ever used)
Quote : | "its so easy when other people can pwn msb and i dont even have to post

btw Pujols never failed a steroids test or admitted to using steroids to the grand jury like Bonds, k" |
pwnt? Hardly. BTW, steroids are not the issue. Human growth hormone is more effectv with fewer side-effects, its virtually undetectable, and it isn't in the current testing policy anyways so there is no reason for players to still get caught. Interesting enough though that in a recent interview his responses on the subject were strikingly similar to Bonds in the early steroid rumor days (steroids along can't make you a better hitter, media/people are too hard on bonds, etc).
Quote : | "YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER SEE SOMEONE HIT 20+ HOMERUNS OVER THEIR AVERAGE FOR ONE SEASON AND CONTINUE HITTING MORE HOMERUNS THAN THEIR AVERAGE IN SUBSEQUENT SEASONS WHEN THEY ARE AS OLD AS BONDS*. YOU'RE NUMBERS WILL GO DOWN WITH AGE, NOT UP!

YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER SEE SOMENE PERFORM AT A LEVEL THAT ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME PERFORMED AT SO CLEARLY SAID PERSON WAS CHEATING AND NOT REALLY THAT GOOD.
Give me a fucking break. Surge years are not uncommon in baseball, hell it is what the previous record holder had. And actually, Reggie Jackson, Ted Williams, and Hank Aaron (just to name a few) had a similar spikes without complete falloff at the end of their careers. BOnds didn't increase at the tail end, he sustained the level from the several previous years. As pointed out, remove Bonds' outlier year and his career is pretty typical for an all-time great.
Quote : | "some people jump to conclusions like "bonds is on steroids"...and then they are proven right and they let people know

And some people suck at reading comprehension and anything beyond basic reasoning skills so therefore can't really understand what is being said, can't think beyond the obvious, and rely on other people to make their arguements for them.
