Wolverine wasn't interesting until he got his memories back.

Ultimate Wolverine is a little more interesting, and more what he's based on for the movies.

I'm going to sit on the "holding out to see who the director is" bandwagon before I say whether or not I'll watch this movie.

The Ultimate version of Wolverine has the fact that he is a trained killer emphasized more than the animal side that has always been emphasized in his 616 appearances.

Ultimate Wolvie will take you down cold-blooded. 616 Wolvie will go all berzerker on you. Berzerker rages were never interesting to me.

As for having memories, the "I don't know who I am or what I've done and who is this mysterious person from my past" act got tired a long time ago. Memories are the best thing that ever happened to the character.

in the movies, the shape of the claws implies completely artificial. They are not circular but thin and rectangular(makes them look better) and makes them fake.

In Ultimate continuity, we know that Sabertooth has 4 claws added, suggesting that Wolvie's are fake there as well. Even so, movies can't go by 30+ years of continuity. Can't be done.

i took that in a less literal sense

more like a "we polished you up" kinda thing (no pun intended)

and claws are much more effective than sharp fingers

they are longer and provide for more leverage
to effectively use claws like logans you just need strong arms
to get max effect with sharp fingers you would have to have really really focused on strengthening your hands

also

try blocking an attack from a melee weapon with your fingers sometimes, you'd be wishing for 3 long claws attached to your forearms

and finally

nobody ever accidentally makes a fist the wrong way and punctures themselves on their wrist claws
