Chuck has said repeatedly there is NO qb controversy this year. it is hands down going to be Stone.

We may see Greco or someone come in randomly for a few snaps like they did with Olin Hannum a few years back.

Greco was in my english 101 class spring semester, but I failed it in March due to mono, so I dont know about his intentions.

This year could be scary. But I'm more optimistic about the football team this year then I will be about the basketball team. We have some ridiculous running backs. We have to have a serviceable throwing game though.

What was that just rumors and bullshit?

usually you have to use the run to set up the pass

i think it's just the opposite for us this year

we NEED a 50-50 offense this year

i want to see 30+ pass attempts per game

With Stone throwing them?

I mean he average what 15 a game? And still threw an interception a game about.

Guys please stop talking about football.

Let's just do like UNC does when their team sucks and ignore them.

Go to the tailgates and drink all the beer you want but for the love of god dont put any false hopes together this team is going to be terrible.

oh, i realize we're gonna suck

i expect us to be 4-8

i just want us to go back to an offense where defenses are scared of our passing game instead of stacking the line anticipating a run/QB draw

our offensive line won't be half bad this year...

combine that with our backs, I'm looking for our running game to be solid and the line able to hold long enough for Stone or whoever to get something done when they need to

i was thinking the 0 QB approach would be more effective.

Stone is basically a fullback anyway. He cant pass and he's not elusive.

Might as well let Reggie Davis take snaps.

Oh wait he's playing LB... i bet that works out great I'm sure he's never going to blow an assignment.

Our secondary stinks, our pass rush is weak, the right side of our O-line is weak, our receivers are young, and we'll probably get the worst QB production in the ACC.

LONG, LONG season...

thats because you saw a QB who played with a top notch defense and running game.

Now that the defense evaporated, going 7-20 with 97 yards, 2 INTs, and 10 rushes for 12 yards is going to make him infamous.

He's going to be the most hated guy on campus next year.

No way Burke beats out Stone in Fall practice. Face it, he's the guy. We'll need more from him next year, but he did what was needed last year (not lose games), and hopefully we can give him an O-Line this year.

If Burke has the playbook right now, I'd give him a 50 50 chance of beating out stone in fall practice. The only reason its even that bad is because Chuckermater probably wants him to redshirt. Our D is going to suck this year, and Chuck might not want to throw him to the dogs quite yet.

we might as well ditch stone even if he is better and build experience up on a freshman qb so when he gets to his junior year it wont be a question who the qb is. waiting till junior or senior season to play a guy is only asking for trouble. rivers wouldnt of been nearly as good if he started playing his junior year.

Greco will never see time at QB. He can't throw. he sucks.

he was moved to saftey and from what I've heard he isn't going anywhere.

he hurled the ball downfield, unlike Davis. often times it was done foolishly and ended in a pick, but doing so:

(1) it drastically opened up the running game
(2) gave the defense time to rest

yes, the majority of the credit goes to the defense, but with the SAME DEFENSE Davis did not go 5-1.

when he starts losing a bunch of games, as you all have so brilliantly projected, please come back and say "i told you so"

but for now, lets atleast give this guy who HAS A RECORD OF 5-1, at little less shit than you already have

I hope everyone realizes that Stone was more highly coming out of high school than Burke is. Not saying the Burke is not going to be good, just keep in mind everyone was saying the same things about Stone in 2003.

^^WF was up 13-0 when Stone entered the game and we lost by 8. Looks like he had a positive effect to me.

http://gopack.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2005-2006/wf1022.html#GAME.SUM

^He had 0 int's and 1 TD. His % was 13-30, so he was off. Taking out Stone's rushing from that game, you will see we netted 44 yards the entire game. Hard to win.

http://gopack.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2005-2006/bc1112-1.html#GAME.IND

The argument will be chicken/egg in that the rushing would open the passing and vice versa. But 44 yards rushing is not going to scare anyone.
