Anyone know of any custom trailer builders in NC. I need at least an 8500lbs aluminum welded bunk trailer for a boat with a beam of 9'6.

damn thats stout. Fountain would have one that size, maybe you could buy off the lot instead of having to have it built

Yikes, a steel trailer? Sounds like it would way to heavy and would rust like a mofo in saltwater.

Lots of folks have a steel trailer. Granted, they're hot-dip galvanized. And no, they're not grossly heavy, especially if built correctly.

What are you pulling said trailer with? Why custom? What kind of boat? Why bunks and not rollers?

Most likely a Grady 265 Express. Its a big boat out of the water and will sit on trailer unless she is on the water so bunk is the way to go. Plus it will be powerloaded anyway. Better to have a custom fit and hardcore trailer then trying to match one from something a dealer has in stock but its still an option.

I know, I know... but unless you go with one of the bigger companies, this is close and custom... thought it would be worth a shot for ya.

I hope you like driving with a wide load permit.

Our catamaran is the widest trailer you can legal tow without a permit at 8'6"

and yes we've had police stop us and tape measure it.

^^Rec permits are easy to obtain. You go over 10' and then you have a problem.
