The last backup I did was actually a restore (Nero) and when I lost my HD and put in my backup the program partitioned my new HD to the size of my old one.

What program or backup method would work the best? I have 27.4 GB to backup and an external drive with 30 GB on it. I also have a DVD-R.

The version of ghost I have probably doesn't support SATA.

okay still no luck trying Norton Ghost 2003. The raid drivers that I should use, would they be dos drivers? This is what I get for getting newer technology, I can't even back my shit up.

Ghost supports SATA just fine ... it doesn't support RAID however (IIRC). Do a search for synapse's threads in Tech Talk ... he had a similar issue earlier.
