I'm looking at getting some gloves, and I want something comfortable and nice, but not too bulky for everyday riding. I think I've narrowed it down to 3 gloves, and i just wanted to see what you guys liked.

1. Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon Gloves

I have the Alpinestars SP-2's and I like them. I haven't had any experiences with the other gloves you mentioned.

i don't like any of the gloves mentioned so far all that much. i'd prefer a more race-style glove that offers a little more protection. I have a pair of Teknic Violators (and Violator boots, too, for that matter). I THINK I paid about $75 for them several years ago...looks like they're a little more than that nowadays.

Don't skimp on your gear, dude. You don't have to get top dollar custom fit leathers or anything, but you want good, protective stuff.

For the record, my Violator gloves have survived somewhere between 2-4 wrecks...can't remember which ones I was wearing them in (but I know I had them on during the last two wrecks I was in, which were also by far the two most severe). They are still quite serviceable, although there are some scuffs, and a lot of the chrome coating on the knuckles is worn off.

I mean, all of those gloves should be decent, but why not spent $20-30 or whatever more and get a really nice pair?

that's why the cuffs are bigger and looser, and the jacket sleeves are tight around the wrists. the cuffs go over the jacket.

yea i know that, just seems like it would be a little much, just for riding down the street sometimes...

that picture brings me to another question, why do superbikes have exhaust on the side and under the tail? im guessing just because of the sheer amount of exhaust gas.

It's not absolutely necessary, but it's extra protection, and there is no drawback that I'm aware of.

I mean, having a race-replica bike to ride on the street is also a little much. Sometimes too much is just about right.

mine. they pwn at life. granted they were 110.. but titanium fists well..are great. i get compliments daily. have been through to crashes and held up very well.

yeah dont skimp on gear. get real leather gloves as well with kevlar stitching. the metal studs on the palm of mine have saved my palms 2 times. i even had stud ripped out from one of the lay downs. one time i wasnt wearing gloves and well it took several weeks to get my skin back on my palms

about the cuffs.. u want those as well to protect ur wrists.

oh yeah my first set was a cheap pair of i forgetz that were like 20 bucks. they wripped under daily taking on and off.. not even from a wreck. screw that shit dont skimp on gear.

I have the #2 gloves, no complaints, but also no tests. I didn't want a long cuff, and they just barely overlap with my jacket. A longer cuff would of course give better protection.

i prefer the cheap all-leather glows with no carbon fiber or meta studs for everyday use. less protection but quicker responce on controls. crashed quite a few times at lower speeds on the same pair of 20-dollar motobosses.

of course i dont get up into triple digit speeds too ofen where you would need all the extra protection

well i went with the Lightning Pro's, I'm not plannin on riding to hard yet, and if i start to ill get some better gloves later, but these should be a good starter pair. I mean its kevlar, and has the CF protector and high cuffs
