okay, the obvious solution is to buy a remote that comes with software for pc use...but i don't really want to do that...i have a hauppauge usb2 tv tuner, which came with a remote that seems to have a lot of potential (bunch of different buttons for different stuff), but it only works (right now) using hauppauge's wintv application

in addition to there being a ir port on the tuner, i have a separate usb ir device which i could hook up...but i need some sort of software to make the remote work on the computer outside of the wintv app

my understanding is that most ir remotes (whether for televisions, computers, whatever) are pretty much the same, but getting the computer to correctly interpret the signal coming from different buttons is what the software is required for

does anyone have any suggestions for third-party software? i found LIRC (which seems good, but it's only for linux) and i'm running winxp pro

1. Use Yahoo! Search instead of Google.
2. If possible, write .NET code.
3. Get someone to port LIRC to windows .net for you.

DO you really think someone on here would find you something on the Internet that you couldn't?

Do you really think these people have superior searching skills?

I think if someone has first hand experience, then yes, they would be a more valuable resource than a google search. That is the point of a forum right?

It's clear you don't have any experience other than googling when you don't have experience. You said your peace, get the fuck out of the thread.

I didn't say my "peace", I said the fact.

Your "peace" was "search the internet", which you stated once. Then said it again. The fact that you assume this person hasn't tried this when he clearly has (easy to see based on what he posted), means you are the idiot here. Please stop posting.

I don't see you making any useful contributions to this thread.

and I doubt anyone could make a useful contribution here.

That must be reason enough to be the worthless dickhead that you are, right? Does your 1 comment about searching not satisfy your need to be an asshole? Me not contributing to this thread has zero to do with you not contributing the thread. Why don't you worry about yourself first cheif. Stop posting, you aren't helping.

Is that why the entire site hates you? What conclusions should I draw about you when you apparently thrive on being hated by an entire forum of posters?

Continue onto personal attacks because there's no other way for you to increase your post count...

Did you try looking at the car pc forums? And I think I have seen a lot of stuff at make.com lately dealing with remotes.

I haven't tried the ATI Remote Wonder but I have heard good things.

I personally use the Snapstream Firefly
