Buying DVDs is about the worst way to spend money...

Remember those folks wayyy back who had like every VHS tape on earth? Where are they now? Collecting dust in the attic? It may be "cool" now to have a 500 DVD collection, but for real in 5 years or less you'll never, ever, ever crack open those DVD cases again.

Lastly, I agree w/ drunknloaded's post...the DVD burner is a way better investment

Yeah but whenever the next media format comes out it will be much easier to transfer from DVD to the new format. Heck you could even put your 500 movie collection on hard drives today and not be bothered with any format changes at all. It will be much easier to transfer a movie from a DVD to a HD-DVD (or whatever) than it was to transfer a VHS to a DVD.
