I use it a lot and it's annoying to constantly check it. I know a lot other forums do it (it's in the profile page, you can just select an option there) so it shouldn't be that hard to configure.

I wonder if all of the suggestions people come up with wouldn't be more influential if members started coding shit on their own and submitted it to the T-Dub tekkies (or whoever does the coding)?
