"NC State's recruiting board under new head coach Sidney Lowe continues to take shape. Shooting guard Dorenzo Hudson of Forrest Hills High in Marshville, N.C., is expected to be in Raleigh Wednesday for an unofficial visit. Hudson, 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, claims an offer from the Pack. He is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 62 junior in the country."

great this great four star recruit makes a visit as the remnants of Hurricane Alberto shoot through

some great news is this:

Quote :
"Sidney Lowe has landed his first recruit at NC State. The new Wolfpack head coach has picked up a verbal commitment from Iowa State freshman point guard Farnold Degand, as Degand has announced that he will be transferring into the ACC program."

nice

oh crap i didn't even notice this one.

Quote :
"Sidney Lowe has landed another commitment, as the Wolfpack's new head coach accepted a verbal from Bridgton Academy (ME) 7-foot-3, 235-pound center Bartosz Lewandowski. Lewandowksi, who has recently cleared admissions after qualifying late in the year, will be a member of the 2006 class."

well at least we'll be getting some size our way after Ced left. 7-foot-3!

Damn, and he didn't even take his NCAA rules test yet. it should get better when he is able to actually make recruiting visits.

I'm glad we're getting this Lewandowski kid because we've really been under our quota for tall, goofy looking white kids ever since Adam Simons left.

Maybe he'll be a sleeper pick-up, we can probably throw some muscle on him and have him at a decent size.

But 7'3" is staggering, haha. That tall and only a 2-Star though has me worried, he might just be all size and no ability.

it doesn't matter how tall you are, if he only weighs 235, he'll get pushed out of the middle all the time. Shawn Bradley comes to mind.

Degand when he was in high school was a 6'-3" 160 lb. 2 guard that was a 3 star prospect. he was still young though during his senior year. he turned 17 during the middle of his senior year, when most kids are turning 18. so he has probably built up some muscle and speed, and became a smarter player during his first year of college play and college strength and conditioning. either way it gives us good depth. he'll probably appeal to the NCAA to have another year to play since he had to deal with the coaching fiasco at Iowa State, but he'll have to sit out next year.

i hear he's quite the speedy one.

From what has been said by the Iowa State players and coaches, he was the most improved player as he sat out last year. I don't think they're happy theiry losing him.

he got significant minutes in the nba

if you are good enough to get PT in the nba you will do great in college

think about this he went to a school in Maine. how much attention could he have gotten up there. i mean Maine is more known for hockey than basketball, so if a good player was to come through he, might not get the kind of attention if say he was to have grown up in Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, or any other state known for their basketball. it'd be like a good hockey player coming from NC, going up to play for U. of Michigan, or Boston University.

^^^Bartosz Lewandowski, center. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic center. Bartosz Lewandowski will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. Perhaps more Polish.

Quote :
"Degand is a guy who wasn't recruited all that heavily coming out of high school. Part of the reason was because of his slender frame, but it also didn't help that he played in the Boston public school system — which is notorious for not getting a lot of exposure from college coaches.

Degand wound up choosing Iowa State and the plan all along was for him to redshirt. According to former Cyclones guards Will Blalock and Curtis Stinson, whom Degand went up against each day in practice, he improved more than any other player in the program last season.

Degand will give the Wolfpack a guy who can really get the ball up the floor. He's lightning quick and has toned down the flash in his game. The next year off will also allow Degand to add another 10 pounds to his frame. "

Read these comments and tell me that State/Carolina isnt a rivalry.

http://mb23.scout.com/finsidecarolinafrm6.showMessage?topicID=112563.topic

the stupidity in those comments is hilarious. Especially the one about him not getting any play at Iowa State. HE FUCKING REDSHIRTED, HE WANTED TO. DUMBASS QUEERS!

Now the big guy can be cracked on, but hell, why not take a chance on him, what do we have to lose for 06 class?

^ typical of UNC asshole fans. i mean he hasn't even officially been on the job, and he got two guys to commit. i admit they aren't outstanding prospects, but they are going to serve a good purpose, provide bodies for practice and some depth. Degand could turn into a good contributor. he apparently is very quick and has good ball control. sounds like what a point guard is to me. No one really knows anything about the 7-footer, so we don't know what to expect. it's a good sign for being handicapped by a late start. if we get Jamelle McMillan, and some other promising prospects like Dorenzo Hudson, we could continue building on the good foundation we have. all it takes in basketball is one good recruiting class to turn things around for the better. (see Ohio State)

I like the sound of the first two guys.

The 7'3" kid is worthless. He'll get more playing time his first year just because we are so thin up front. 5-10 minutes his freshmen year....zero from here on out. I would think we could do a little better. Why not a Juco kid or a I-AA transfer???

being 7-3 will make an impact on defense even if he just stands there. i dont think ive ever seen a college player this tall. even if he completely sucks he will be a nice asset to bring off the bench.

i wonder if he can run the floor?

That's because all players that tall either skip college or sit on the bench. If you are a decent 7-footer you jump to the league...or you have "potential" and you soak it up on the bench for 4 years and get a degree.

This guy is going to completely suck balls.

The Polish guy might get some run his jr and sr years, but for now he'll just be a good practice player. Keep in mind that we can have up to 13 scholarship players on our team, and Herb typically only had around 10 or 11. Not a bad idea to fill that bench.

anyone heard anything about McCauley lately? or Brackman? I know the rumors were going around for a little while that McCauley was looking to transfer to ASU but I never heard anything else.. im just wondering who our center would be if McCauley did end up leaving and Brackman decided to stick with Baseball(which is what I would do if I were him)

I'm not inferring anything about the kid we just signed.

But I would like to point out that Shawn Bradley as a FRESHMAN was one of the most dominant defensive players NCAA basketball has seen during my lifetime.

He singlehandedly knocked UVA out of the tournament in 1991.

Remember the POSSESSION where he blocked four shots? That was unbelievable
