I bought a sony voice recorder a while ago and now I want to see if theres a way to download the audio onto my computer to use in multimedia slideshows. Unfortunately, unlike olympus brands, this one doesnt have a PC dump, just microphone and earphone jacks.

Is there any kind of converter that can plug into my earphone jack and transfer it to my computer?

I realize that I could buy a voice recorder with PC Dump but 1) I already spent $40 on this one and don't want to spend a minimum of $100 on an olympus with PC Dump 2) I've heard a lot of reviews of the Olympus ones and they arent very flattering.

Does your computer have a mic in/line in jack? If so, just use that.

definately try for a line in jack
would probably not be a good idea to put a lot of power into the microphone port

if its a sony, does it have one of the Sony Memory Sticks? the purple colored rectangular memory cards that Sony products tend to use? if you have one of those you can use a computer with a 7-in-1 memory card reader...if you only use the recorders internal memory then i'm not sure

It doesnt have an accessible memory card.

I've talked to a few others who own the same style recorders and they recommended the line in jack with a double audio input/output cord.

Now to follow up, does anyone know of any free-ware that records and edits audio?
