To get our shit outta the thinking thread.
hahaha yeah... i really want an early bronco with an HD 9" in the rear (actually 10 and some change) and a Currie 9" w/ dana 60 knuckles up front Or portals
then the typical manual driveline nv4500 atlasII 403 stroker (351) possibly with some boost and full coilover conversion
/ dream rig. 6/17/2006 11:49:05 PM |

i'd really love to build a buggy, but that's off in the future. if i end up building the tj, the next major step is fullwidths. 1-ton or even more hardcore.
if i'm doing that, i'll have a dd/tow rig. so we'll see. mogs, rocks(2.5), volvos, or 60/70/80. and at least 42's. built motor down that road also. i'd love a stroker 4.7 but i'd probably want to build something with more hp/torque . can you say money pit? bc i can 6/17/2006 11:53:38 PM |

I'd definitely do a stroker 4.7 with the TJ. More torque, the six cylinder way. 6/17/2006 11:55:30 PM |

a stroker 2.5 haaahhahhhahha, but for real if i did mogs or something like that i'd want a beef ass motor to play with. dan dibble style. if u know who he is. i'll try to get a vid of him linked

Yeah.... i really love my xj but i'd like to build up a scrangler yj with a turbo 4.0 stroker and the engine management hesco has just cause its barely been done and if the turbo is sized right... it could make some serious torque...
i'm a biiiig fan of the inline.
I also think a boxxer would make a cool as motor for a buggie if built the lightweight way. keep that cog low.

oh and to elaborate on the dana 44 deal. i see no reason to swap to them ever bc they use the same u-joint i have in the dana 30. why swap a whole axle when you will have a common weak point. granted the shafts/ring gear/carrier/ball joints, etc. will be stronger and you can do chromo shafts. but that will still just get you to or a little above stock 60 strength. i've thought ab this for a little while hahahahha 6/18/2006 12:02:31 AM |

ohh i agree i but to me a dana 30 (no hubs or vacuume shit) like the one in my xj... is solid till about 35" tires and i also agree i'd never swap it for a dana 44..
i mean i'd have to go 9 inch if i moved up in the xj cause i have the 29 spline 8.25 too soo a 30 spline dana 44 isn't much of an improvement there either except it doesn't have damned c-clips 6/18/2006 12:05:27 AM |

i have c-clips in the 8.8 and i never worry about it at all. 6/18/2006 1:48:07 AM |

have you compared the c-clips though... the ones in the 8.8 are big nasty billet pieces. 6/18/2006 11:38:40 AM |

I guess I don't want to go all out like you guys... I like at least a little challenge! I'd just like a newer 3.4 in place of the old 3.0, w/ an automatic and dual T-cases from inchworm. High pinion front third w/ elocker. Some 37" tires, and I'd be done. 6/18/2006 11:40:57 AM |

yea, the 8.8 ones are pretty damn thick. and tawaitt, i'll be challenged when i build it that big, i'll just have to tow it a little farther. 6/18/2006 12:30:04 PM |

i think 37s is too big for local.. i think 35s with lockers can do most of tellico in its sleep if it has the right wheel base and no wheel hop problems

the bronco would be street driveable with as little lift as possible to do the 4 link front and rear to keep the portals stable because the portals have 6" of lift by themselves..
i'd probably run 37x10.5 on it with the biggest wheel possible. 6/19/2006 1:49:13 AM |

ohh gawdam.... thats pretty...
yep.. thats about perfect for an nc trail rig
i'd like mine to be full width with "massaged" fenders big enough to tuck said 37s into. 6/19/2006 2:14:10 AM |

my ideal rig would be a solar yellow tj with coil spacers and a body lift and like 33" thornbirds and those cool ARB bumpers and lots of lights and a wench. 6/23/2006 10:03:00 AM |

i wasnt really gonna hook up the lights, my friend drilled holes in his windshield frame to wire through, and that shit rusted. they look cool though, even if they dont work. chicks dig em. 6/23/2006 11:56:30 AM |

^^ plz don't forget to get one of those sweet roof racks. even if you have a soft top, they are sooo cool! then you can run those tree guard lines from the rack to your ARB bumper!!! 6/23/2006 2:40:56 PM |
