Whenever you are posting your classes that you've taken on the VMCAS application, it asks for the "VMCAS Pre-Req Code" and gives you a drop down list that has things to choose from such as Animal Science, Biology, Speech/Communications, etc. Do you just put down the one that coincides with whatever class you are listing, since you have to specify this each time you enter a class? And also, what would I choose to go with ALS 103?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I put a code to correspond with each individual class. When I wasn't sure what to put, like for my one-credit "First Year College" (FYC) courses, then I just put "Other"Hope that helps, and good luck! This application is pretty rough so far!

Oh goodness. I haven't started yet. Where all is everyone applying?

you don't have to mark it as anything. I just chose the classes i had the best grades in to fulfill pre-reqs and left the rest blank. I think they use it to do the different GPAs so if you only need one math, for example and have an A in 131 and B 231, use the A and don't mark the other. I did this last yr though so i'm guessing things havent changed.

From the instructions:"You must list all academic courses, prerequisites and nonprerequisites through Fall 2006 in this section.""Select the appropriate VMCAS Pre-Req Code. Use “Other” for all non-prerequisite courses. List each course only once and use only one Pre-Req Code. If unsure of which code to assign, contact the college the course was taken."Chinasky, did you mean that you put "other" for the Pre-Req Code (e.g. for the B in MA231)? Or did you leave it blank? To me, the instructions sound like they want each class to be assigned one of the code options and they don't want any left blank...Any other ideas?FYI, I'm only applying to NCSU

I am applying to NCSU, UT, MSU and Ohio St.MSU and The OSU have large class sizes so i figure that the more out of state students accepted, the better chance I have.Good ol' Jelly [Edited on June 28, 2006 at 6:14 PM. Reason : CPT]

alright well let me ask you a question about the vmcas then.for the classes i have taken a lot are animal science classes that are not prereq for vet school, so do I list them as animal science or other?
9/14/2006 6:28:43 PM
i listed them as animal science for my app, but if maybe 1 is a not-so-good grade, then you could list it as "other" if you wanted to i think

I'm just waiting on my last two LORs to be turned in and to finish the supplemental for NCSU. I am just looking forward to October 3 when I can become increasingly stressed until I get any news.
