Will a sony digital 8 camcorder playback or record on Hi-8 Tapes? Thanks.

not about to look this up, but since it's a digital camcorder, i'm assuming it won't work with tapes

Hi8 = 8mm tape = digital 8

Follow Up question: Is there anyone willing to lend me or rent me their Hi8 or digital 8 camcorder for an afternoon or so, I need to convert some presentations that I had made to VHS.

I'm not 100% sure, but i think you can do that in the Digital Media Lab at DH HIll.

The digital media doesn't carry Hi8 camcorders anymore. The design school does, but you have to be in the school of design to use them.

Follow up Question: I have alady that is willing to sell me her 8mm sony camcorder. It is neither Hi8 nor digital 8. Will it still play Hi8 tapes without messing up my tapes?

Not quite true. Just like VHS=/SVHS=/DVHS . Some digital 8 camcorders, mine, can not use hi8 tapes and can only record digitally. Also, you can't record digitally on regular 8mm tapes, at least not on anything I've used.
