So I just bought a value pack today on ebay for $150. I'm not sure what firmware it has yet because I don't have the system. But when I do get it, what should I get and do with this thing to maximize its potential?

If it's a 2.0 or lower, you should downgrade it to version 1.50. That will allow you to play all the homebrew plus 98% of the games, either legally purchased, or "borrowed" off the net.

If it's greater than 2.0, Go out and buy Grand Theft Auto:LCS, because a)it's probably the best game available for the PSP, and b) there's a glitch in the game that allows you to run homebrew on 2.0+ systems. Within the next few days (probably today) there will be a downgrader released using the GTA exploit that will allow you to downgrade 2.5 systems to 1.50, but you will still need a copy of GTA to downgrade.
