Pack Pride has learned that NC State head coach Sidney Lowe has passed the NCAA Recruiting Test and can now proceed with all forms of recruiting.

NC State Assistant Athletics Director Annabelle Vaughan confirmed that Lowe has indeed passed the test today.

"Yes, Sidney Lowe has passed the test," said Vaughan.

Lowe, who officially took over as NC State head coach today, can now recruit off campus during periods designated by NCAA guidelines. Previously, he could only make phone calls and assist with on-campus recruiting prior to passing the NCAA Recruiting Test.

The next Evaluation Period begins July 6, 2006. During an Evaluation Period, it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abililties. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted.

Currently, men's basketball is in a Quiet Period. During a Quiet Period it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.
