Yeah, I figured their policy was that you do have to pay but the system that they use to check wasn't smart enough to differentiate between the two sessions. I'll give it a shot when SSII classes start and post either way. 6/22/2006 4:44:02 PM |

i took one class ssI in 2004, was able to get in all summer. In Fall 2004 I dropped all of my classes half way through the semester and didn't go back to school until this past spring (06). I was able to get in the rest of that semester as well as the spring semester (05). Technically I was not supposed to be able to do this. But my card kept working so I wasn't saying anything. So before you pay for access I would keep trying to get in until it doesn't work. The worst that happens is they say "you don't have access to the gym" then you just swing by the office during the next business hours and pay the 15 bucks. 6/24/2006 1:32:38 PM |

Reading Comprehension man: If you are not taking classes this semester, then you are not a current fee paying student. Thus are not guaranteed access to the gym for the current semester.
Just got back from the gym. I was in classes in the SPRING, had 1 class SUM I, enrolled for 16hrs in the FALL. I was denied access and told that I'd have to come back tomorrow between 9-6 and get a membership for $15 from the main office.

let me clear this up.
Technically you should only have access if you are paying fees right now. If you're distance ed do you pay fees (tuition =/= fees)? If not then you should not have access. If you do then you should get in with no problem.
HOWEVER, Carmichael's system is flawed. Some people (not currently taking classes) will be able to get in, others will not. The Dude was able to get in, however I was told I have to buy a membership. 2 years ago mine worked for 2 semesters while I wasn't in classes. However, at the same time a friend of mine could not get in and had to buy a membership.
Just go to the gym and try to get in. If they let you in, don't say anything. Just keep using it until they don't let you in anymore. Chances are if you can get in now you will get in all summer. If they don't let you in then you have the option of paying $15 for the rest of the summer.
