In other countries, kids are sent away to prep schools at age 12 to become soccer players. We don't do that.

Plus, we're not really #5 in the world... that's based upon us playing Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guam, Guatemala, etc in our group.

US sucks in soccer. period.

those ranking you are talking about are done by coca cola, an american soft drink company, ofcourse they would rank US #5 and no matter how much recent history or unbeaten record a team has, the world cup is all about tradition, a country with no tradition wont get far in the world cup. Its the show down of the giants, brazil, italy, argentina, germany .. etc. and there is not place for no US or Ghana you can bitch about it all day, but its not like Ghana or the US is going to beat Brazil in the 16 round So who gives a fuck whether the US leaves now, or next round.

Hell, when Brazil sent their u-23 side to the Gold Cup, they got second place and hardly even tried.

Take out Brazil and Argentina.

USA and Mexico are at Uruguay-Paraguay-Ecuador easily.

Costa Rica and Trinidad are at the least equal to Bolivia and Venezuela.

I know Mexico would love to be in their region. I think for the USA to progress, a Pan-Am is the way to go.
