just the regular. I didn't want to pay high dollar for a cool edition of a money I'm not even sure I'll like. 6/23/2006 3:53:32 PM |

hopefully you'll like it, it's not over the top ridiculous humor like anchorman, or 40 year old virgin. it's very cleverly crafted and subtle. it has some instant laughs, but it takes the time to really develop the characters throughout the movie. each time you watch it, you'll pick up on some new things. sure it gives a nod to harold and maude, but it's not the same movie at all. 6/23/2006 3:54:00 PM |

I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah) I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah) Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
You can't hold out, you can't hold out Oh yeah, oh yeah You can't hold out, you can't hold out Oh yeah, oh yeah Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
See it come along and don't know where it's from Oh, yes you will find out
Well, it happens all the time It's censored from our minds You'll find out
Slow or fast, slow or fast Oh yeah, oh yeah End at last, end at last Oh yeah, oh yeah Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Stand up coming years and escalation fears Oh, yes we will find out
Well, like a withered stone Fears will pierce your bones You'll find out

Wes Anderson is a men among boys. They should teach a class about his movies at NCSU.
Others who need classes:
Richard Linklater John Woo Ang Lee Martin Scorcese Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick as a stand alone, 4-hour course! 6/24/2006 4:37:58 PM |

has Wes Anderson ever made a movie that wasn't centered around father-figure issues?

i've only seen the Royal Tenenbaums & remember liking it -
who is scrumples talking to anyways?
wes anderson isn't on my list of the best young directors. he's not awful though.
Notable young directors (no 50yr. olds) -Paul Thomas Anderson -Aronofsky -Spike Jonez -Sophia Coppola -Brian Singer (he went off on a tangent though lately w/ movies that do not interest me at all) -Harmony Korine (i'm not sure what he's been up to lately but he's talented imo) -Matt Gronke haha
*i'm sure i'm missing some 6/24/2006 6:42:58 PM |
phishnlou All American 13446 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, he's not awful alright 6/24/2006 7:46:40 PM |
spöokyjon ℵ 18617 Posts user info edit post |
I would put the top young directors (off the top of my head) as follows, in this order:
Matt Gronke (the man's a genius) Wes Anderson Sofia Coppola Michel Gondry Alejandro Iñárritu (really looking forward to Babel) PT Anderson Darren Aronofsky (not a lot to work with, yet, but I'm really looking forward to The Fountain)
Oh, and I don't know if Shane Carruth is going to make a movie ever again, but if he does I'll be excited.
