I am in no way bashing the program here and have always been a supporter, but this is probably the most key line in that article.

I think something key for us on Thomas is we got in early with him. I fully expect he would have been offered by Wake Forest and more prestigious basketball programs in the coming months.

it has been said many times that Thomas was blowing up and many major bball schools would have offered and shown interest in the coming months. the 07 recruiting is just really getting started.

that story was already posted in the 2007 Basketball Recruiting thread.

Guillermo Diaz was one of my favorite non-State players in the ACC this year. dude is hella fast, great passer, and can shoot lights out. everything i'd want in a PG. plus he's a good leader. didn't he declare for the NBA draft, or am i just crazy.

it just says he's a guard. i thought he played both guard positions this year. i forgot who was the Canes primary ball handler this year.

He did plenty of ball-handling, I just wouldn't pick him as a point.

now that we've got this guy, he'll probably drop to like a top-400 recruit and stop getting press at all (OMF UNC MEDIA CONSPIRACY!!1!).

i wholeheartedly concur with your level of excitement

not getting outrun, dunked on, and being made look like little bitches by the schools down the road, will be a welcome change

plus, here's to more meaningful wins in the conference

i'm glad you see it my way

strengths: upside and ATHLETICISM
areas for improvement: ball handling and 3 point shooting

truly a changing of guard at state...athletes and non 3 point shooters

It's not so much the "running the same offense as everyone else" so much as it's the "not running an offense that belongs more on a football field than a basketball court."

Micro-managed basketball takes most of the excitement out of the game. When players are precluded from creating their own opportunities, you might as well be watching a computer simulation.

That is where we will be this coming year sadly. Battling the Clemsons/V Techs/Miamis of the ACC.

i was just saying, if it was implied that because Miami and VT recruited the guy that he is no good, I was referring you to Diaz because he was a helluva player for Miami

^oh well at least if UNC beats us now we'll have a few excuses like "new coach" "young team" "not Lowe's players"...and if we do beat them...oh man

in other words

you dont want to watch a team game, you want to watch some and-1 shit.

the nba may be better suited for you to go cling to.

^^what was more exciting for you in the last 6 months:

- the Heat Mavs series in the NBA Finals?
- the Final Four with LSU vs. UCLA and George Mason vs Florida

no, we want to see a team game, we're just ready to see an end to players' athleticism being castrated

imagine a coach constantly working on the mechanics and fundamentals (such as boxing out, rebounding, and setting up screens) with Ced, Gavin, Brack, Cam, and Bethel and then telling them "unleash the fury"

we would've seen a different game out there

don't get me wrong, i loved seeing us hit 3's; but no team can be one dimensional and have a sustainable competitive edge.

we had our time with the precious little Ivy League offense, and now we've evolved

I liked them both roughly the same.

If Florida or UCLA were my team I would have liked that more, and the same with Heat/Mavs.

Im not going to get into an NBA vs NCAA argument.

I saw this kid play against William Graves (UNC's worst recruit in '06 class) this year. Thomas' team won, but he did not look that impressive, and he lost mvp to a guy on his own team that had 7 points. William Graves looked like the much better player, but it was only one game.

The impact of the coaching change far outweighs the loss of a few recruits.
