friend is getting married 01/06/2007 in cancun @ http://moonpalace.com/gen/mp/ - i've never been so wondering about some recommendations - map data online isn't on marriott's site or maps.google.com and i haven't looked much further for how close the properties are from each other
how is the weather in cancun in january - my expectation is that it stays warm/hot all year
if I end up going it'd probably be me paying for 2 people to go - vote on the options (i'm open to other options also) - airfare would be on AA using points - 60,000 for coach and 120,000 for first - for this flight i'd probably do coach and use free upgrades b/c the flight shouldn't have that many frequent travellers - i'll check expertflyer.com for bucket status though prior to purchase
1 the price for a minimum 3 night stay at the moonpalace is ~1500 - this is all inclusive though for 2 people (excluding airfare) - it would seem logical to me that since the wedding couple will be staying here and getting free drinks i might be able to bum a few off but as a whole they will want to eat/drink here b/c it's free for them - thus for paying customers i bet it's expensive
________
i live in marriott hotels - so i have more than enough points to cover 2 nights (check-in friday - check-out sunday) in the hotels there - both hotels are pretty nice
2 https://marriott.com/property/propertypage/CUNMX 46,000 points + $60 or 56,000 points - either way is fine but typically the $60 is cheaper than the 10,000 points
3 https://marriott.com/property/propertypage/CUNJW 55,000 points + $60 or 65,000 points
________
with options 2 and 3 i have to pay for food/drinks for 2 ppl so there is some additional cost that is hard to factor in - but i expect cancun to be a relatively cheap place to get fucked up and full (is this correct?)
feel free to add options - with nothing being more expensive than $1500 all inclusive 6/27/2006 3:56:32 PM |

Cancun is overrated
I'd go to Ixtapa instead 6/27/2006 4:17:09 PM |

fiance will be going with me, drunknloaded - thx for the loving comment tho
location isn't up for debate - as with pretty much all weddings - location is dictated by the wedding couple 6/27/2006 4:19:23 PM |

i stayed at another palace for spring break 2 yrs ago. it was very nice, we all had ana amzing time, and got an all inclusive stay there for cheap. we were there mon-fri and it cost us about $100 a day. needless to say it was more than worth the all inclusive treatment... 6/28/2006 9:23:02 AM |

i fly for free and get free hotels because of my job - i typically do my own travel agent work - would a travel agent be able to get better prices at one of these all-inclusive places? if so anyone recommned one?6/28/2006 9:46:08 AM |

i'm not really sure if they'll be able to get better prices...just with the destination weddings i've been invited to or know of people planning they always had a travel agent that would pretty much book everything. they put their card in the invitation and for them to contact them. this let the whole wedding party and guests have rooms near each other...plus we all arrived around the same time on the same day.
and you should really try to stay at the wedding location...there was lots of free time to spend with the bride and groom before the rehearsal and wedding (i'm sure they have an on location wedding planner that is doing everything...they basically send pictures or tell them what they want and the resort wedding planner takes care of it all so they're not gonna be tied up with anything). the place we stayed was all inclusive as well. (we were in playa del carmen though...about 20-30 minutes south of cancun)
plus you won't have to worry about getting a taxi back to your hotel/resort. there may be a thing about the in-house restaurants only being available for guests. the rehearsal dinner was at the resort...but it was for guests only. so i don't know how that would work if you were staying at another hotel. 6/28/2006 9:56:30 AM |

invitations haven't been sent out yet - i was told the details by the groom a few days ago
yeah i've been to playa del carmen but never cancun - unfortunately it was this past xmas after all of the wonderful storms tore it a new asshole
i don't care that much about paying for a taxi/food/drinks b/c of the amount of money i'll be saving by staying at a marriott and flying on points but most of the other things such as not being able to take part in things b/c it's "guests only" would probably piss me off
is the price of this all-inclusive resort reasonable for 3 nights? i've never stayed at one before 6/28/2006 10:03:36 AM |
