The first four alone would keep me occupied for weeks. People keep talking up these new consoles, but the PS2 has a great set of games coming out all by itself. I'll pick up the Nintendo's system from day one, but I could easily see myself being happy with just a PS2 if I were strapped for cash.

Fuck the next generation for a while. PS3 is out of my price range, 360 doesn't have anything terribly amazing and I'm not very interested in the Wii as far as that goes. I have a PS2/Xbox/GC and I actually want to get the most out of my systems. Lots of great games still coming out and i'm personally looking forward to FFXII and GoW2 as well.

^^ My PS2 alone lasted me well over 4 years, and I recently got into the Xbox & GC. I'll be content from now up until next-gen console prices start getting slashed.

My point was that at a time when people can't stop talking about new systems on the horizon, the PS2 has an impressive lineup that's arguably better than all three.

seriously though, the 360 upcoming lineup is equally impressive to me, not to mention many are new series (im sure they'll play the same as some others, but still). the problem with an established series is that you know it'll be awesome, but you know what to expect. some games really break out of the mold, but most are just more of the same. it's really hit or miss, but im kinda tired of that on all the old systems and want to see some new stuff on a new system (though all 3 have their share of old titles as well).

that said ps2 is still alive and kicking, which is good cuz the ps3 lineup has only a few gems as well.

The 360 lineup does look pretty good, but except for Gears of War, Too Human, and possibly Forza 2, most of its really big games are coming out in 2007 (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, Halo 3, etc.).

^we just received the street date from Square Enix today

October 31st...Halloween...is when Final Fantasy XII is being released

EB/Gamestop will be receiving and EXCLUSIVE collector's edition of the game in very limited quantities, fyi
