Director directed Contact, Cast Away, and What lies beneath, which I liked. The other movies on his resume are soso.

Anthony Hopkins .... King Hrothgar

Crispin Glover .... Grendel

Ray Winstone .... Beowulf

Robin Wright Penn .... Queen Wealhtheow

Angelina Jolie .... Grendel's Mother (voice)

Aaron Stephens .... Beowulf physique <<<<<No idea what that means

I am looking forward to this one. Any movie with Anthony Hopkins in is I will watch.

nm; thought maybe the "physique" thing would be similar to Andy Serkis as Gollum/King Kong, but that doesn't make much sense.

Haha:

John Malkovich .... Unferth

I hope it's good.

Although he doesn't get completely hammered on mead, and then calls Unferth out for getting trashed.

yah http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402057/ was not horrible, gerard butler played beowulf.

tried to take a new take on the story... even if the movie isnt incredible i'd almost watch it just for the panoramic movie shots and scenery. movie is gorgeous.

This should be done by Mel Gibson, and they should all talk in Old Norse. Would be great.

Same music from 28 days later in that trailer...

It was filmed with motion capture technology like The Polar Express. Which is why some of the characters look like the actors/actresses that play them and some don't, like Beowulf.

I think it looks like shit. However, it's supposedly going to be presented in 3d. That may improve the visual aspect of it.

Is that the finished product?

It looks like they just made really really close CG models for some reason. I cant tell wether its a completely CGI movie or not.

if the whole movie is in 3d, at the imax, id pay to see it.

otherwise it looks like a mediocre xbox360 game

i also agree w/ the old norse. in fact, i have gotten so that i am at least slightly irritated by movies that have people who would not have spoken in english speaking in english. call me crazy. ^^^ has is right though, if that's a final product it looks like a bad game.

i don't get it, why would they CGI stuff that doesn't need to be? i mean surely they could find makeup artists to get the desired effect. that doesn't really make a lot of sense

I like to joke about how I'm going to name this kid baby Hrothgar, so I think that it is pretty awesome that they're coming out with another Beowulf movie, especially with some A listers in the cast and the screen play by Neil Gaiman.

It's almost as if they discovered that they weren't going to be able to produce quality CG but decided to roll with it under the guise of an intended art style.

I'll probably go see it, but I don't understand why it is all in CGI. Something more along the 300 or LOTR series would seem to be better from my perspective.
