I work with the Town of Cary so here's my 2 cents...
Annie L. Jones Park - No. Baseball field, tennis courts, Scottish Hills Pool across the street. 1414 Tarbert Drive
Dorothy Park - No. 720 Griffis Street
Davis Drive Park - Haven't been there, but I doubt it. 1610 Davis Drive
Fred G. Bond Metro Park - Yes, fits what you're looking for. Great lake area, large grass area. 801 High House Road
Green Hope Elementary School/Park - No. Elem. school, Cary Tennis Center across the street. 2750 Louis Stephens Drive
Harold D. Ritter Park - No. Couple of baseball fields, large shelter, basketball court... no real grass areas. 301 West Lochmere Drive
Heater Park - NO 400 S. West Street
Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve - No. I did some volunteer work there for a class, pretty cool place if you're into that kind of thing (nature trails). They have a courtyard where you could sit and relax, but it's a small area. 2616 Kildaire Farm Road
Kids Together Park - ? No 111 Thurston Drive
Lexie Lane Park - No. Softball/Baseball field, small basketball court. 301 N. Dixon Street
Lions Park - No. 2 Baseball fields right through the trees behind Cary High School 815 Tanglewood Drive
MacDonald Woods Park - Possibly. I've never been there but I believe there is some grassy area there to relax. BBall court. 1601 Seabrook Avenue
Middle Creek School/Park - No. 151 Middle Creek Park Ave
North Cary Park - Possibly. Out off Cary Pkwy near SAS. Sand volleyball courts, bball courts, tennis courts... not sure about the grassy area but there is a large grass hill next to the beach volleyball courts. 1100 Norwell Blvd.
Robert V. Godbold Park - No, but I haven't been there in years. 2151 N.W. Maynard Road
Rose Street Park - No, no crowd but it's a small area. 110 Rose Street
R.S. Dunham Park - No. Tennis courts, playground, basketball courts, often crowded. 519 Walnut Street
Thomas E. Brooks Park - No. Great softball complex though. Future site of USA Baseball. But don't think they have much of a "relax" spot. 111 Brooks Park Ave
Urban Park - NO 414 E. Chatham Street
Definitely check out Bond Park. 7/11/2006 7:50:50 PM |

Arboretum is great.
Lake Johnson is also, if you go on the unpaved (east) side. nice little trails, youll find a hill overlooking the lake where you can sit in the grass. it would be sunny in the morning, shady in the afternoon. 7/12/2006 1:31:59 AM |
