I have long been pondering the marketability of David Wright. I mean really, is he a marketable player? If only ESPN would get on the ball and start comparing the Mets left infield to that of the Yankees

^Do you really think Wright/Reyes is near as good as ARod/Jeter?

I sure hope not. I hate the Yankees as much as anyone but Wright/Reyes aren't that good yet.

^^^^ depends on how you define it. Reyes/Wright are having a better year statistically then Jeter/ARod. So if you look at 2006 they are the better duo. Of course they aren't ANYWHERE NEAR the accolades and accomplishments of those two so if you look at it career wise you can't even begin to compare.

I'd take Reyes/Wright over the next 10, or even 5 years over Jeter/ARod.

they were discussing this on baseball tonight a few weeks ago

kruk and reynolds both agreed that arod and jeter would be the better combo over the next five years, and i agree with them

there's no doubt that wright is gonna be an absolute superstar, but i still have my doubts about reyes -- and neither of them are better than above-average fielders

jeter is still one of the premier defensive and offensive shortstops in the game and more than makes up for arod's semi-retarded attempts at playing third

defensively, i'd say its a push right now

offensively, i still give the edge to the yankees

that being said, ryan zimmerman is a clutch motherfucker and the best young defensive third baseman in years

the kid is brooks robinson jr.

I think Reyes had a fluke first half hitting... he's a great basestealer and will score a lot of runs but i dont see him becoming a 20 HR, .290 guy for years to come...

and let me fix this:
Quote :
"jeter is still one of the premier defensive and offensive shortstops in the game"

offensively he is a good singles hitter and base runner, but he's nothing more than an average fielder. He consistently ranks near the bottom in range statistics.

i agree

i was trying to say that combining his offensive and defensive skills, he's one of the premier shortstops in the game

regardless, i'd take jeter in the field over reyes
