haha...have fun with that.

i have a friend that used to live next door to him. Ponson would stay up and do drugs until 6am sometimes on days he had to start. what a fat tub of lard.

the yanks are in dire straits. ponson isn't getting them in the playoffs, that's for sure.

i guess the bright spot for the yanks is that they got him for dirt cheap ($150k - $175k). He used to be the highest paid player for the Os, now hes making the minimum.

i'm interested to see if the cards make another push to secure more starting pitching, which seems like their only pressing need.

in my opinion, they are in a similair situation to the mets. both have the bats, but in a best of five/seven series with another quality club, i'm not sure they have the starting pitching at this point to hoist up any banners.

In the past twenty years you have caused myself, and the city of New York, a good deal of distress, as we have watched you take our beloved Yankees and reduced them to a laughing stock, all for the glorification of your massive ego!"

this move doesnt mean much. they always sign those low risk, high reward guys. Like Hideo Nomo last year. Dwight Gooden in 96. etc.

ANNOUNCER #1: And the Yankees take the field!

ANNOUNCER #2: Is it my imagination, or do the Yankees look a little different tonight? I can't put my finger on it...

ANNOUNCER #1: Well, from what I understand, they've switched to cotton uniforms.

ANNOUNCER #2: They seem blousier, softer...

ANNOUNCER #1: Well, it is a natural fibre...

The only pitcher that would truly make sense to sign for the Yankees if he was available (which he isn't) would be Willis from the Marlins.....Ponson is a fat POS who has had a mediocre carreer at best....we don't another pitcher with a 5.0 plus era....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

But having said that. With all our injuries we are only 2.5 back of the sox !!

honestly, i wouldn't be suprised if the marlins shop Willis, despite what their GM says. reason being, he'll be up for arbitration and he's contract is up after the '07 season. he'll fetch about $12 million at that time, which probably equals about 1/3 of the rest of Florida's starting roster.

the Marlins have a history of not paying anyone sky high, regardless of talent, and rebuilding frequently with young talent and propspects. the yankees don't have jack in their farm team that is usuable currently, but i wouldn't be suprised to see Florida seriously entertain the idea of shipping him off later in the season for top-notch AAA and AA prospects from someone like Anaheim, Boston or St. Louis.

the Marlins roster makes 15 million. so 12 million is more than one third. haha.

this move was made to free up a bit of money and a spot in the rotation for D-Train

It's not like the Yanks' signed Ponson to be the No. 1 guy in the rotation. With Mussina and Wang making more than solid contributions and Johnson alternating between solid and soiled, if Ponson can give quality starts, that'll be more than enough.

Granted that may be asking too much.

He doesn't need to win 17 games like he did a few years ago. Just don't give up six runs in three innings to the D-Rays like that guy last week.

with Willis still at the marlins I dont see him going to the Yanks...reason being is that they are on teh move once again...their front office is incredible when it comes to rebuilding a team after winning a world series. i expect them to possibly win it all next year with Willis in his final contract year then once they do ship off all their key players and start over again

see Beckett

please do tell why u are laughing.

they are in what 4th in the NL east behind NY, Philly and Atlanta...well unless Atlanta finds a bullpen in the next year i dont see them being a contender too much, NY has to do some work on their pitching staff and as for Philly they always seem to be 2nd best in that division...it shouldnt be hard for a team like the Marlins to do well next year in that division with as much change and turmoil thats going on in each teams management, players and especially pitching.

It is a shame about this guy, he has talent.

He started 4-0 with the Cards this year before falling apart.

so, basically you're just assuming that the marlins will magically win the division next year without and proof or basis for your argument

they're gonna finish fourth at best this year

they have an owner who doesn't give a fuck about baseball

they draw 5,000 fans on a good night

they have no money, they aren't going to pay for any big free agents

they aren't going to win a world series with a $15 million payroll and they aren't going to win without willis, who will be long gone next year

they have some serious young talent, uggla leads the pack, but they are several years off from being contenders

the east should be a crapshoot next year, but the marlins and the nationals won't even sniff first place
