A little premature for a 'GG'. At least wait until it's determined what the powder is.

Its still terrorism no matter what the white powder is.

Terrorism = using fear as a weapon.

tru dat.

However, anyone can put white powder in an envelope and mail it to somewhere else. I could do it. You could do it. Chuck Norris could do it. If you're Salisburyboy-esque, maybe Bush did it just to see people scurry around. Without some sort of hyper-surveillance that neither you nor I would find acceptable, it would be impossible to stop individuals from doing so.

Until we find out what the powder is and where it came from (individual or, say, Al-Queda), the 'GG' is premature.

it appears to be Neo-Con Republican Terrorists. Obviously, republicans hate our country and
want do cause economic harm to the United States.

Quote :
"NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Times on Friday received a letter containing a
suspicious white powder and a copy of a recent editorial in which the paper defended its
coverage of the Bush administration's anti-terrorism programs.

Tests found the powder to be harmless, but not before the incident helped push U.S. stocks
lower and raised fears of a possible recurrence of anthrax-tainted letters sent to newsrooms
and other offices in late 2001.

"New York City authorities have confirmed that the powdery substance found in a business
envelope addressed to The New York Times and opened by a mail room worker this afternoon
has been field tested and determined to be nonthreatening and nonhazardous," the Times
said in a statement.

...

Conservatives have criticized the Times in recent weeks for writing about the Bush
administration's covert anti-terrorism programs. This week protesters rallied outside the
newspaper to object to its decision to publish details about terrorism financing and
secret government programs to monitor phone conversations of U.S. citizens.

Mathis confirmed that the envelope included a copy of a June 28 editorial entitled
"Patriotism and the Press" with an "X" marked through it.

"Over the last year, The New York Times has twice published reports about secret
antiterrorism programs being run by the Bush administration," the paper wrote in that
editorial. "Both times, critics have claimed that the paper was being unpatriotic or even
aiding the terrorists. Some have even suggested that it should be indicted under the
Espionage Act."

After defending the decision to publish those articles, the editorial then roundly criticized the
White House for overstepping its authority in the post-September 11 era.

"Ever since September 11, the Bush administration has taken the necessity of heightened
vigilance against terrorism and turned it into a rationale for an extraordinarily powerful
executive branch, exempt from the normal checks and balances of our system of government,"
the newspaper said.

anyone else feel like that whole anthrax thing after 9/11 just didn't seem right?

it was like it just came and went but it really didn't fit in with the flow of 'OMG TERRORISTS ARE ATTACKING US!!!"
