I'm kinda wanting to go to Grad School. I should be graduating next May from undergraduate, and I know for Grad School you gotta take the GRE and things like that. How soon should I try to take this in order to apply to schools for admission to Grad School for Fall 2007 ? Would it be as early as this Fall to have to take it or would Spring 07 probably suffice?

Spring would be late...most schools have a December deadline.
Try taking the GRE around September. 7/15/2006 1:54:46 PM |

Yeah def figure out when the application deadlines are for the programs that you are interested in. You may also want to give yourself ample time to take the GRE a second time if you aren't satisfied with your first result (I believe you have to wait a month to take the test again). 7/15/2006 3:07:01 PM |

i dont know anything about this GRE, except some people say it's hard, some say its simple
do you do anything to prepare for the GRE? or is it just a test that asks random stuff.
i've heard its like an SAT test, but a little more advanced, and whatnot 7/15/2006 4:40:40 PM |

i took a practice just to familiarize myself with the format of the test, not so much to learn material. 7/15/2006 4:42:11 PM |

you'll get an unoffical reading of the calculatable ones when you take it, the written part takes a few weeks. 7/15/2006 4:52:58 PM |

I thought the test in general was easy. The written was cake, math was easy (and math is my weak subject), and verbal wasn't too bad. It helped me to spend a few days reviewing early high school math and brushing up on my vocabulary. Practice tests were most helpful with time management. 7/15/2006 4:58:51 PM |

like he said^, the best thing you can do is just get one of those kaplan books and quickly read over it so you can learn how to spot worng answers and also learn how to disect questions and not waste a shitload of time with 1 problem.
In the whole scheme of things, if you did pretty well on the SAT then you stand a good chance to do ok on the GRE. You can waste your time studying GRE words like I did, learned about 350 words in a month and then i noticed only 3 on the exam. 7/15/2006 9:18:56 PM |

Jaja, im taking the GRE the 25th to go back to grad school.
In Raleigh you can take a computer based test that gives your official scores back within 10 to 15 days I believe. Or so their website says. If you search on Google for GRE Test Dates, the first website should be the site for signing up to take the tests.
From what I have seen on the practice tests I have done, the verbal is very similar in difficulty to the SAT and math is a bit easier. The writing topics seem like they are pretty much a breeze to work through, all you need to know how to do is organize your thoughts and put them on paper.
Depending on what you are going back for, I would take the test ASAP in order to allow for time to take again if you dont do as well as youd like.
For my Graduate School applications are due on the 20th of January so I am taking the first test the 25th and then based on that I will see if I want to take it again. Let me know if you have any other questions man. 7/15/2006 10:37:26 PM |
